DESTACADO:
The British Red Cross – Bradford,UK – is urgently looking for a volunteer.
Important – Applicants for this project have to live in Spain, Uruguay or Costa- Rica.
Project description
The project will offer a volunteer the opportunity to be involved in the following areas of Red Cross work:
1) Refugee & Vulnerable Migrant Support
2) Community Based First Aid
3) International Tracing & Messaging
4) Youth & Schools
The volunteer will be supervised by the Refugee and Vulnerable Migrant Service Coordinator who will provide a full induction into the service and support relating to volunteer work with the British Red Cross. The role of the volunteer will be to work alongside BRC staff and volunteers delivering services to the public. British Red
Cross volunteers have the opportunity to undertake various relevant training courses to improve their skills and increase their awareness of relevant issues. The volunteer will have the opportunity to interpret and translate information if they have relevant language skills.
In the project the volunteer will be offered some choice of activity. They will be involved in all, or some of the following activities:
o1 Refugee & Vulnerable Migrant Support – the volunteer will have the opportunity to support the needs of vulnerable migrants living in the Yorkshire area. He/she will help refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants to access the essential legal, healthcare and educational services to meet their basic needs. The volunteer will help at a drop-in service which provides emergency support (blankets, sleeping bags, food parcels, etc) to migrants suffering destitution. The volunteer will also signpost service-users to relevant local organisations and help with making phone calls and filling in application forms. The volunteer may also have the opportunity to participate in the organisation of Refugee Week events which are held across the country and aim to raise awareness about refugee issues and promote positive encounters between the British Public
and refugee communities.
o2 Tracing & Message – This service aims to restore contact with relatives, who have been separated by war or natural disaster. This area of British Red Cross’s work would be interesting to a volunteer who is concerned by people’s well being, and can understand the needs of someone who is distressed. Depending on a volunteer’s confidence and ability to communicate, their role could include supporting BRC staff in
making discreet and confidential enquiries and/or visits in order to try and trace a missing person, as well as providing emotional support for people who have not had news on a relative for some time.
o3 Community Based First Aid – volunteers may be involved in organising and delivering first aid training to refugee and asylum seeker communities. Relevant language skills will be very useful for this.
o4 Youth and Schools – the volunteer will have the opportunity to participate in peer educating in schools in the West Yorkshire area. He/she will have the opportunity to deliver refugee awareness education, HIV education, humanitarian education and first aid training. The volunteer will also be able to assist in large events (for example HIV awareness events) with partner organisations and schools.
We would like volunteers applying for this project to have experience and/OR motivation of working with refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants in need of support. It is particularly interesting to us if a volunteer has an interest in or knowledge of immigration law and essential that they are prepared to learn about immigration law and the UK welfare system.
We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer with a mature outlook who is keen to develop their skills and prepared to travel and attend training as required for the role. It is vital that the volunteer has good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with vulnerable people in a sensitive way. There are no special qualifications needed to participate as full training on all elements will be given.
We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with good English language and IT skills. Knowledge of one or more of the following languages will also be considered an advantage:
• Languages spoken in A2/A8 EU states
• French
• Farsi
• Arabic
• Swahili
• Urdu
• Kurdish
• Mandarin
The main characteristics we are looking for in this placement are volunteers who:
• Would like to volunteer for the British Red Cross and are prepared to work in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of humanity, impartiality, universality, volunteering, neutrality, independence and unity.

• Are interested in helping to support people at times of crisis in their lives

BECAS ARGO
Destinadas a titulados universitarios de cualquier universidad española pública o privada, para realizar estancias para la formación de carácter profesional en empresas europeas. La dotación cubre costes de viaje y manutención y el plazo para presentar las solicitudes finaliza el 30 de marzo de 2012.
La beca ARGO cubre:
- Un viaje de ida y vuelta al país de destino, que se abona con la ayuda de manutención del primer mes de la estancia.
- Gastos de manutención y estancia que se abonan mensualmente
- Una póliza de seguros, contratada antes del inicio de la práctica.
- Una preparación lingüística, si es necesaria y debe ser solicitada por el becario.
El proyecto ARGO se va a desarrollar en dos años. Se inicia en diciembre de 2009, siendo la fecha límite para la finalización y el retorno de los becarios el 31 de mayo de 2012.
Requisitos:
- Ser titulado universitario de cualquier universidad española pública o privada (la titulación debe encontrarse en el Catálogo Oficial de titulaciones impartidas en Universidades españolas,públicas o privadas)
- No haberse beneficiado anteriormente de las becas de movilidad Leonardo Da Vinci o ARGO Los titulados universitarios que cumplan los requisitos deben seguir los siguientes pasos:
- Registrarse en la página web del proyecto.
- Enviar su currículum normalizado: el sistema envía al correo electrónico de contacto indicado en los datos de acceso la información de registro personal (nombre de usuario y contraseña), la cual permite el acceso al espacio privado de cada solicitante. Es aquí donde se debe completar correctamente el Currículum Vitae- ARGO normalizado.
Una vez que los datos se han registrado en el sistema, el proceso de solicitud para acceder a una beca ARGO finaliza con éxito. A partir de este momento los candidatos forman parte automáticamente de cualquier proceso de selección en el que se demande un perfil que corresponda a sus características personales y profesionales.

Becas FARO GLOBAL
El programa de becas FARO Global promueve la movilidad de estudiantes de últimos cursos de todas las universidades españolas mediante la realización de prácticas formativas de calidad en empresas radicadas en Europa, Asia, Estados Unidos y Canadá. Ya se han agotado las plazas para EEUU, Canada y Asia, solo quedan plazas para Europa.
El objetivo último del programa es facilitar su inserción profesional mediante la mejora de sus competencias, aptitudes y actitudes.
Las becas se conceden de forma continua durante la vigencia del programa, siendo el 31 de Diciembre de 2010 la fecha límite de finalización y regreso del último becario. La duración media de cada beca es de 7 meses.
Este programa está financiado por el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, siendo la Fundación General de la Universidad de Valladolid la entidad que lo promueve y gestiona a nivel nacional.

Curso “Juventud al ambiente” Fundación Tormes
La Fundación Tormes va a impartir los días 19 al 21 y del 26 al 28 de Febrero de 2010 un Curso sobre la creatividad en programas de dinamizacion juvenil,participación y educación ambiental con jovenes.En el Centro de Iniciativas Ambientales, en Almenara de Tormes, Salamanca. El curso es gratuito (incluyendo docencia,dossier informativo alojamiento y manutención), y esta destinado a aquellas personas dedicadas a trabajar con jóvenes en el ámbito de la educación y participación ambiental.
Trabajaremos los siguientes aspectos en el curso:
Bloque I: ¿Somos creativos?
Dinámicas de presentación y conocimiento.
Introducción a la creatividad.
Técnicas y experiencias prácticas de referencia.
Bloque II: La creatividad en la Expresión Corporal
Danza – Teatro: Herramienta creativa de la comunicación no verbal.
Aplicación en programas de dinamización juvenil.
Bloque III: De las Neuronas al Papel
Metodología de programación creativa de actividades ambientales.

Taller COMUNICACIÓN SIN VERGÜENZA
- Todo el mundo piensa en sexo, pero ¿quién se atreve hablar de ello? -
Los días 24 y 25 de Febrero de 2010, desde las 18 hasta las 20.30, se realizará un taller de sexualidad en el Aula de Voluntariado (Edf. San Bartolomé, Plaza Fray Luis de León 1-8) impartido por las voluntarias Anne y Nira.
Será un taller dinámico, participativo, y ¡explosivo! Se tocaran tanto los temas comunes del sexo (métodos anticonceptivos, ITS, etc.) como temas tan interesantes como preferencias, dificultades, formas, experiencias, etc. en lo relativo a la sexualidad. Se hablará de la sexualidad en el ámbito social y cultural, y mucho más.
Se realizarán diversas actividades en las cuales se requerirá la participación del colectivo con el objetivo final de que la gente salga de este taller dispuesto a hablar con total seguridad de SEXO.

Actividades de voluntariado intergeneracional.

El Programa Interuniversitario de la Experiencia reliza a partir de Febrero unos cursos de informática para personas mayores para las cuales precisan colaboración de voluntarios/as para el apoyo de los profesores en los cursos. La función de los voluntarios consistiria en ayudar al alumnado en el manejo de los ordenadores. Estos cursos tienen diferentes horarios y dias (la información esta adjunta ) y esta actividad tiene reconocido 2 y 2,5 créditos reconocidos.
-La Unión de Asociaciones de mayores de Salamanca precisan una persona voluntaria para apoyarles dos horas a la semana con el manejo del ordenador con un grupo reducido de personas mayores. La actividad se realizara en la sede de la Asociacion en la Calle Bolivia y la Asociacion daria un pequeño incentivo para el gasto del transporte hasta la sede.
- -El Instituto de Neurociencias de Castilla y León, La Caixa y el Ayuntamiento han organizado una exposicion de ” paisajes neuronales” que estará en el INCYL hasta el dia 28 de Febrero, a continuación os adjunto la información correspondiente.

We have an opening for a volunteer in our Orchid House Project ( 2009-IE-14 ) who will commence on 1 March 2009 at our homeless shelter in Dublin City. Application Procedure:
Please submit your application with as much information as possible. It is important to stress that only applications specifically relating to this project will only be accepted. We have a number of candidates who express an interest in our projects and we find that general applications are difficult to assess. It is for this reason that we ask each candidate to submit to us the application form, and a letter of motivation. You must send all two in one email. Please be sure to answer the following questions in the application form:
1. A volunteers motivation for applying to do EVS Stuart Garland | Volunteer Coordinator
2. A volunteers motivation for applying to the project
3. The volunteers general understanding of the factors that lead people to become homeless with reference to the particular client group of the project
4. The challenges that the volunteer anticipates when working in our projects
5. The skills and abilities a volunteer feels they will bring to the project

The closing date for applications is Friday 29 January 2010. For your application to be valid you must complete our application form, and send a letter of motivation to us. EVS Volunteers are also required to produce two work / study related references, a relevant police clearance from the country that they are travelling from and information relating to medical history if appropriate. Exposición fotográfica sobre cooperación internacional.

La ONG Fundación Humanismo y Democracia muestra hasta el día 29 de Enero una exposición fotográfica “Caminos abiertos, miradas compartidas” a cerca de 30 proyectos de cooperación que se estan desarrollando en diez de los países más pobres del mundo.
La exposición puede visitarse en el Espacio Joven de Salamanca. El horario de visita es de lunes a viernes de 09.00 a 14.00 horas y de 17.00 a 21.00 horas.
